The band:

Sal - lead vocalist and guitarist, spent years crafting his songwriting; Strong guitar- driven rock with all of the pop sensibilities of his influences( ie. Cheap Trick, Elvis Costello, and The Kinks) make CRASHBOX’s signature sound.

Pete - drummer, has been a member since the beginning. His amazing good looks made him quite successful at being a man-whore during his wild teen years. Pete is one of the hardest -hitting drummers in music today.

Chris - guitarist, joined the group in 2003 with hopes of becoming the next Jimmy Page. His hopes came tumbling to the ground when he realized he shared more in common with Jimmy Kimmel rather than Jimmy Page. His style ranges from moody, textural rhythms to in your face riffage; a major part of the CRASHBOX sound.

Angelo - bass player/sex symbol/Playgirl cover model, was the missing piece of the CRASHBOX puzzle, bringing his hard rockin’ edge to the CRASHBOX live show.

Location:
New York, USA

When and how did the band get together:

CRASHBOX was formed in 2002 by the members of New York City hard rock trio, PINWHEEL and Bronx guitarist, Chris Petro.
CRASHBOX’s previous musical project PINWHEEL won critical acclaim in 2002 by the Independent Music Industry, winning the Independent Music Award’s best hard rock band of 2001 and best hard rock single of 2001. PINWHEEL sold over 5,000 of their Independent release “Dear Blue”. PINWHEEL became CRASHBOX later that year and the rest is about to become a part of Rock n’ Roll History!!!

Band Bio:

CRASHBOX is a four piece power pop band from NYC (the Bronx to be exact!). Their influences range from The Beatles, The Kinks, & Elvis Costello to Cheap Trick, Motley Crue, & G’N’R. After 5 years of constant gigging , writing, and recording, the band is preparing to release their first major album on May 2nd, 2006.

The self-titled album will feature the single “Radio”, which hits radio stations April 17th. With contagious guitar hooks and tongue in cheek lyrics, this song screams hit single! The track “Life of the Party” takes you back to the punk stylings of the Clash and Joe Jackson. The huge, stadium-ready power ballad “Drown” takes the listener through a failed relationship by way of beautiful vocal melodies and heartfelt lyrics over the simplicity of raw, emotional instrumentation. “Saturday” & “September” are instant rockers, showing the more serious side of the band, while the addictive “This Girl”, “Down Like That”, & “So Tired” journey through the good time vibes of cock-rock. Crashbox takes a page from 60’s/70’s psychadelia in songs like “Prom Queen” and “Anyplace But Here”, while still maintaing the upbeat rock ‘n’ roll spirit with the closing tracks “Standing On A Hill” and “It’s Over”.

The record will be available in every major record store in the U.S. and on-line at http://www.crashboxnyc.com.

Sound best described as:

Hard Rock with equal amounts of Power-Pop Crunch and singer/songwriter flair!

Hard at work?

Influences:

Cheap Trick, Elvis Costello, Queen, The Beatles, The Kinks, Billy Joel, Guns ‘N’ Roses, Motley Crue, Extreme, The Benjamins (our Jersey Homeys!), Saigon Kick and Britny Fox...to name a few!!!

Ultimate goal as a band:

Sell a million records, date supermodels, and eventually self-destruct...all in that order.

Who would you like to tour with?

Hmmmm...we’re still waiting to play with Guns ‘n’ Roses!!  But the ultimate would be Queen (with Freddie, alive of course!) and Motley Crue.

What are your thoughts on the current state of rock music?

It seems like rock dies a little with every year that goes by, and with every new rap single that gets overplayed on every major radio station & MTV. We’ll let our songs speak for themselves. No one can deny a great song and a great band!

Last words:

This time next year, I’ll be answering your questions from either sunny California or a jail cell.  Head to our Myspace page or Website to find details on how to pre-order our album and any New Yorkers reading this, come out and see us rock on April 18th at the Lion’s Den!
