We hear you are currently putting together a Flesh CD, will there be new material or a complitation of old songs?
Markus: We were together for ten years and wrote a lot of songs. We always felt that the one CD we managed to put out didn’t represent all we were capable of. The new CD was recorded back when we were together, and the first five songs are actually one big composition entitled “The Lost Book of Malchus”. It is more of a philisophical journey than a rock opera. The rest of the CD is made up of selected tracks that represent different phases of the band.
When and where will it be available?
Stephen: At First only at the show but eventually online as a cd or digital download.
How long has it been since you played together live?
Stephen: It has been 10 years since all four of us played together.
What is the official status of the band? Is this just a one time thing or will there be more?
Stephen: The official status is that we are feeling out the waters. We have a ton more material that we loved that never got released, so you never know.
Do you have a website where your fans can get more information?
Stephen: It is currently being constructed but they can go to our MySpace page.
Flesh THEN
When and where is the show?
Stephen: The show is October 20th in Hudson MA.
Over the past 10 years you’ve played in different bands and you’ve seen each other perform, how does it feel watching your former bandmates on stage without you?
Stephen: At first it was strange but as you see each other you remember what you loved about playing with them in the first place.
Markus: I feel like I am seeing them for the first time, because when I was on stage with them I was preoccupied.
Paul: Actually I’ve been having a hard time getting rid of Stephen since he’s been helping me out playing bass and basically being a major part of the background vocals with my solo stuff…I think he wants my job….bastard! As for Markus, I’ve seen both him and Stephen perform with OK Panic and they have been great and I expected nothing less.
What have each of you been doing over the past several years?
Stephen: Mark and I stayed together playing in the bands Superzero and OK Panic.
Paul: Writting and spending some quality time with family & friends finally!
Do you plan on writing and releasing any new material in the future?
Stephen: Never say never.
Markus: Hopefully
How are rehersals going? What’s it like to be playing together after all this time.
Stephen: It is a great feeling, feeling like coming home.
Paul: Rehearsals are fun, but quite a bit of work in regards to what we been used to doing on our own. The Flesh songs definitely are a workout…but well worth it.
See FLESH Now
Can we get a hint of what songs will be on the set list?
Stephen: NO it is a little bit of our whole career
Paul: Yes…Puppy Love, Shadow Dancing, Dreamweaver…etc….
Individually, what are you music plans for the future?
Stephen: Keep playing…
We saw you opening for Extreme and it seemed like there was no stopping you, the next thing we heard you had broken up. What happened losers =]
Stephen: It was time for a change.
Markus: On the one hand, we were very fortunate to do as much as we did, but looking back, it seems that, business wise, we were always a day late and a dollar short, and it was frustrating.
Paul: Pretty much to clear things up on my end, I was going through a major change in my life so I pulled a 360% all around with respect to Markus, Stephen & Gonga.
Paul Live
What are your thoughts on the current music scene?
Stephen: I like it better than when we were in the middle of it.
Paul: That’s a great question, I feel there is one and there isn’t, times have changed quite a bit with the technology with everything at the tips of your fingers you don’t really have to get up off your ass and go out just like I’m doing now.
Are there any bands out there today that you’d love to tour with?
Stephen: Green Day
Paul: Butch Walker
