Band Bio:
The long and short of it… Four guys decided they’d rather play music than work shitty jobs.
The long and long of it :
Scott and Anthony played together in a north jersey band called the Dharma Boys (of which Ant was the lead singer and primary songwriter)... Meanwhile Jarrett’s in Boston playing with his own original project called Tocar… I’m still at home in Virginia beginning to realize I’d score more chicks playing guitar than being in high school art club. Jarrett’s project fizzles out, he moves back to Jersey and forms Copperpot with Scott, who’s just dissolved the Dharma Boys and in search of a new gig. They find a bass player and another guitarist, record the self-titled record and go out supporting it. Their first gig is in LA in front of some of the biggest suits in the land. Eventually, their guitarist splits, and Scott calls up an old friend. Anthony comes back into the fold, picking up lead guitar duties and singing back-ups. Around this time Jarrett and I meet in a Butch Walker forum; he and I hit it off and decide it’d be a good idea if our bands set up some shows together. Cut to April 2005, I’m without a touring backing band for my new project Third String, so those guys pull double duty, playing my tunes and their own on the Anything For Attention Tour. They get home and their bassist quits… Jarrett calls me up, I lie through my teeth telling him I’ve got plenty experience on four strings… I learn a whole lot of songs in a little amount of time… eventually move to New Jersey… and a bunch of broken hearts and broken strings later.... You’ve got the rock juggernaut you see before you today.
How long has the band been together?
This incarnation about 8 months, Copperpot itself for 4 years.

Playing to the masses
Your sound is best described as:
Unapologetic, anthemic arena rock for the masses. And a bunch of other self-righteous adjectives.
Influences:
Queen, The Replacements, Prince, The Ramones, Elvis Costello, KISS, and this little band from Liverpool you may of heard of
Bands We Like:
There’s this band from Brooklyn called the Damnwells we’re really into as of late. Ryan Adams never leaves my ipod… And I’m super stoked about the new Rhett Miller. Jarr’s been hung up on this new Nickel Creek record. Good Stuff.
Ultimate Goal as a Band?
To effect people the same way we were effected by our bedroom wall poster heroes. You wanna write songs that’r personal and universal in the same breath, from the good time with good friends with good booze standards, to the therapy for a shitty day… from heartbreak to SPRINGbreak, and everything in between. We wanna make 30,000 people clap above their heads in unison at Wembley Stadium…
We wanna throw televisions through the poshest hotels in the land… We wanna play Saturday Night Live (hopefully it’ll be GOOD again by the time we get around playing it), We wanna get the all access DisneyWorld passes, We wanna be turned into animated characters for a guest spot on the Simpsons.... We wanna.....

Best Gig?
Every NYC/NJ gig is insane and wonderful. Our last CBGB show was pretty amazing… We sold the joint out, and I dunno just the idea that we might be one of the last acts to grace that stage was kinda nostalgic and bittersweet. We <3 that place.
Worst Gig?
Oh geez, this last tour we played this joint in the middle of Kansas. Jarrett’s already like 9 straight days into tour without a day off so his voice is hurtin for certain. Well this venue, if you could even call it that, must’ve bought their PA system from Kmart or something cos it sucked outloud. His mic went out like 2 verses into the first song, so he grabs mine, and THAT one goes out… It was pretty awful… Apparently the crowd was too inebriated to tell cos they wound up buying our CDs and swag…

If you could tour with any band/musician, who would it be?
Man, there’s the obvious thoughts like a reunited Beatles or Queen, but yeah… don’t think that’s gonna happen anytime soon.... I dunno, maybe Motely Crue, cos we all know the debauchery that goes on with those guys out on tour.... cept I dunno I might be a little afraid that Mick Mars would keel over and I’d have to give him mouth to mouth or something. I think touring with Ben Folds would be amazing too cos I think we could go out with him for months and months at a time and I’d never get tired of hearing his tunes over and over again. Same with Ryan Adams… cept that cat cancels more shows than he plays… I wish Semisonic would get back together.
New Jersey vs. New York:
We get this question a lot… And I don’t get it. Maybe cos I’m from Virginia. We love them both cos THEY BOTH love us. End of story. That’s like asking me to choose between “24” and “Entourage”... It’s impossible to do. God Bless Tivo.
Goonies never say die. Copperpot...
never fast foods.
I love them! They’re gonna be huge!
