Let me get this right out of the way - there are very few things in the world that I find sexier than Mat Devine’s voice.  I dare you to find a sexier voice in music today.  It won’t happen.  That being said, I think that discloses all biases I may have towards this band.

With this follow up to their major label debut “For Never and Ever” Kill Hannah delivers the goods and then some.  While I could complain about the wait between albums, I can say that they made great use of their time, touring the country and then some, and delivering this new album that has knocked me right on my ample ass.

I think this new release elevates Kill Hannah to a new level both lyrically and musically.  They seem to know who they are now and aren’t afraid to tell us.  The lyrics are more commanding and with the intro and outro tracks to start and end the cd, they take us on a wild ride of emotion and reckless abandon when it comes to this little thing called life.

They gave us a hint of what was to come by releasing the single “Lips Like Morphine” in advance.  While it’s a great song, I think it’s only one of many on this new album.  Standouts to me are Love You To Death, Believer, their cover of Under The Milky Way, and my favorite track Songs that Saved My Life.  The weird thing is, when I listen to these songs, I really really believe them.  There’s nothing forced, you can tell that they love what they do and this is the music they love to make.

The track “Songs that Saved My Life” is an anthem to any real music fan.  If you don’t listen to this song and grab hold for dear life, I feel sorry for you.  When I first heard it, I was sure that they wrote it specifically for me.  Maybe they did.  I think there’s a time in a place in all of our lives where this song takes us to, and at that particular time and place, the song is our own.  I can’t wait to hear this one live.

The intro to the track “Scream” is absolutely beautiful, as is the entire song.  I picture laying in a field looking up into a kaleidoscope sky as the song progresses.  Their lyrics travel the scope of hope, love lost and found, regret, things we can all relate to yet they reach out in a more personal way.  I honestly don’t dislike one song on the whole disc.  Is that possible?

Can’t wait for these guys to come through town again because there’s only one thing better than a brand new Kill Hannah disc, brand new Kill Hannah songs rocked out live!
