This is an open forum for staff members, contributers, and fans alike to submit their reviews on the latest music releases and concerts. In an industry that is drowning with overprocessed, grossly overrated, unoriginal crap these days, this is our chance to allow the real stars to shine, if only on our humble, little stage; and expose you to some of our favorite talents.

Maroon 5’s highly anticipated sophomore album “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long”, which already has single “Makes Me Wonder” hitting #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, is a unique blend of multi-genre infused excellence. If you enjoy a broad range of musical appreciation, then you will certainly admire this album. Maroon 5 seems inspired by many of the great musicians of our time, and has infused some of those classic sounds into this album. (Think Michael Jackson, Jamiroquai and Prince)
Their first single, “Makes Me Wonder”, is a disco flavored ditty which is already getting blasted over the airwaves with great frequency. “Wake Up Call” injects an angrier vibe into the collection with:
“Little of Your Time” has a light latin feel to it with some old school synthesizer haunts mixed throughout. You might even hear some jazz standard/early R&B influences on “Back at Your Door”.
Like most recent albums this one also contains a few bonus tracks that can only be obtained with album purchase. Where you purchase determines what tracks you add to your collection. I bought my album on iTunes and they served me up with “Figure It Out” (which is very reminiscent of early 90’s Prince) and “Infatuation”.
All in all, “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long” has something for everyone. It is not a mimic of their first album “Songs About Jane”, which was a concept album, but old fans will still love these new sounds from Adam and the guys. Adam claims this album to be “deeper, darker and more danceable”. That claim is spot on. This album is sure to gain a new crop of followers just waiting to see what M5 will come up with in the future. (New ownership of Octone Records and M5 as their main act, it is said that M5 owes two more albums.)
Get out the shades, their future is bright!
