The band:

Steven Scott -Guitar Vocals
Adam Cote - Drums
Jerry Houle - Bass, Vocals

Location:
New Hampshire

Where did the band name come from?

A collaboration of ideas. We wanted something that made you think, hence mindset. The X is the unknown factor.

Band Bio:

Combining elements of rock, progressive rock, and punk Mindset X is pushing forward into the New England scene. Each member of the trio brings in a different musical flavor which makes for a unique and intriguing sound. MSX was formed in the fall of 2004 with intentions of creating music with an edge and a different sound that is not particularly heard on the scene today. That sound has received numerous magazine write ups, radio airplay, and the ability to gig two to three time each week at different venues around the New England area. In March 2005, Mindset X released their first full length album “StateCraft”.

With influences ranging from Queensryche, System of a Down, Frank Zappa, Rush, and numerous other styles Mindset X is delivering an ambitious style of music together with an energy packed live show. “This is only the beginning” says Steven Scott, singer and guitarist. “We all love what we do and look forward to creating more music. The response has been outstanding and we will work harder and harder to write the best music that we can, both lyrically and musically.” Mindset X is set to release their 2nd full length album titled ‘Physics” on Feb 14th, 2006.

How long has the band been together/how did it form?

The current Mindset X lineup has been together for about 2 years. Steve and Adam were in a prior band and when their bass player left they picked up Jerry…The rest is history.

What sets MindsetX apart from other bands of today and your thoughts on the current state of rock music?

Mindset X is influenced by so many things and because of that I think it makes our sound very unique. We don’t try to sound like anyone. I think, lyrically, as well we strive for some sort of intelligence. Something to make you think and not just shake your ass to. We try to take you on an emotional roller coaster and provide as many twists and turns as possible.

I think the corporate music industry sucks. It’s all about the quick buck now and not the longevity of the bands or the music. As far as locally, I believe the local scene is superb. I have seen bands in the area that have blown me away musically and lyrically. Sadly, though, most will fade away with out ever getting a chance to reach their audience. The more the local scene works together the better chance we all have.

Parting words/message to the fans?

It’s humbling to hear the kind words and comments from everybody about the music we create and to know that we can touch you in some way. That means were doing something right. Thank God because I can barley tie my own shoes. We look forward to sharing our new CD “physics” with you on CD and LIVE. Thank you for the kick ass continued support and please help spread the word! Let’s have some fun now, shall we?
