Strike anywhere’s new CD; Dead FM is what you would expect from the Virginian political punks. The songs overflow with not-so discrete views on the world today. There political views are blunt and sometimes overbearing, but still offer good information and a good listen. The only bad thing about the album is that the bad songs are just outright terrible and not worth looking at.

The hits of the album begin from the first track Sedition that opens up with a scream and a heap of power-chord pumped punk. Prisoner echoes is the next song to have a shout along chorus that sounds good, but seems to be unhinged and non- sequitur. Instinct opens up with a calm verse and then barrels into the rest of the song, falling short of what the opining promised. Speak to our empty pockets is the most powerful, fist pumping, catchy song on the disc. The chorus opining line “The preachers. / From the pulpits of power. /” are a hint to there feeling on religion in today’s world. The songs fall short until the fast Allies comes into play and after that there are no songs worthy of listening to over and over again.

Dead FM is an honest political-punk album that just happens to fall short of something great. The good songs are highlights of the band’s career and the bad ones are stains on there reputation. Sadly the ration of good to bad songs is uneven, leaning to the bad. If the songs had a little more work put into them it would work out, but for a momentary listen it is good.
