This is an open forum for staff members, contributers, and fans alike to submit their reviews on the latest music releases and concerts. In an industry that is drowning with overprocessed, grossly overrated, unoriginal crap these days, this is our chance to allow the real stars to shine, if only on our humble, little stage; and expose you to some of our favorite talents.

Reviews are given 1 - 5 stars.

- The Low Down on the Downloads

Maybe we can change my name on the review board from Joe Dolan to THIEF IN THE NIGHT! I’m all about the download!

Let’s take a look at the benefits of downloading communities online.

Kazaa: This is one of the guys who were real popular for a long time. It’s free – loaded with adverts and unnecessary pop-ups, and consistently offers bad downloads, partial songs and virus after virus. Even with the Kazaalite version of this downloader – I recommend you avoid this formerly popular site forever.

Limewire: Limewire is a great community of swappers online. You can get just about any new item, or import item that you won’t find in your retail stores here in the United States. This is also a good place to find an occasional song you need to learn for your cover band, or for that romantic evening when you just don’t have the means to otherwise get a hold of it. The issue with this is you have to know what you are looking for. If you want an album: for instance – Population 1, you will need to find a place online that offers you a track listing by title. The first Pop1 disc had 12 tracks and is listed on Nuno Bettencourt’s website. It might be available overseas in Japan, but highly unlikely you will find it. With the info you have found, you are now able to search for each song individually. You may not always find what you want – but the most popular stuff is there. You can also find mp4 files. Someday I’ll give a lesson in easy conversion.

mIRC: THE BEST! mIRC is an internet relay chat that allows people to connect to other computers directly by way of chat rooms. Go to the site and learn about these things:

1. The latest version of mIRC.
2. Omenserve
3. Autoget
4. A way to get food into your system while you sit at the computer – once you get going on this – your friends will never hear from you again.

I cannot and will not teach people how to steal music. I collect out of print, unavailable music like concerts, demos and old vinyl from the hard rock era. On these sites people offer everything new, newer and newest. Frankly, I don’t care about the new J-Lo or Britney Spears, but an old Extreme concert is always welcomed in my collection. Get involved and find the right trading rooms and you will discover an untold sea of music you’ve been missing for decades.

Once you have got all you need there, find someone there to teach you. Get coffee and bone up on your trivia, mIRC is the number one place to find collectable hard rock rarities online.

From this review on, I will offer reviews of music not available anywhere but on trading websites and for the most part – in the category of hard rock.
